IESCO Initiates Load Management Amid Global Petroleum Crisis

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company has announced the implementation of load management measures following a reduction in electricity generation linked to the ongoing global petroleum crisis.

According to an official spokesperson, the recent surge in petroleum prices and disruption in international supply chains have impacted power generation capacity, prompting controlled power outages across its service areas. The utility stated that load management of equal duration is being carried out in both urban and rural regions, as required.

Consumers have been advised to consult the updated outage schedule available on the company’s official website to stay informed about planned interruptions.

The spokesperson expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, assuring that the situation is temporary and driven by external factors beyond immediate control. “This is a challenging phase, and we must navigate it collectively as a nation,” the statement noted.

Customers seeking further information or assistance have been encouraged to contact the helpline at 118.

The development underscores the growing impact of global energy market volatility on Pakistan’s power sector, as utilities grapple with fuel constraints and rising generation costs.
